National Hospice and Palliative Care Month is observed each November to spotlight just how important hospice and palliative care is to individuals living with serious and life-threatening illnesses.
Every year in U.S., more than 1.58 million people with a life-limiting illness receive care from hospice palliative care providers. Studies show that palliative care can help prolong the life of individuals and give patients a greater outlook on their life and condition. The work that hospice and palliative care members provide include pain management, symptom control, emotional support, and spiritual care to aid patients and family members when recovery is not possible.
The valuable service that our interdisciplinary team members deliver daily allows our residents to live as comfortable as possible for as long as possible, giving them peace of mind and the dignity they need as they face the difficult road ahead. We at WellSpring Hospice know that providing end-of-life care is no small or easy task. It takes dedication. It takes compassion. It takes heart. So during this month, we give a resounding applause to our hospice staff that continue ensuring that each moment with our residents’ is a special one.
